It's fun to burn stuff

04/11/05 @ 21:51

Guy Fawkes Tomorrow is Bonfire Night where here in the UK we burn the treacherous Guy Fawkes – although I am always game to gather round a huge fire and burn stuff, I can’t but feel a little (only a little) sorry for the ‘guy’ that we have been burning for over 400 years!

If you are elsewhere in the world, please join us. If you are not already familiar with this little rhyme (ie. if you are outside the UK), it will teach you not to betray your country by attempting to blow members of royalty.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Have fun.

Remember remember indeed. What a great celebration Bonfire Night is too. All the fireworks and all.

But don’t you think Halloween is taking from Bonfire Night? I think Bonfire Night is more important to our country’s history and we should be more interested about it, but all our kids wanna do is eat sweets!

I agree, I think the whole world should join us in this great holiday.

It does seem a little excessive – his punishment is done already!
